At UVC, we support the future of veterinary medicine and empower those that are making an impact to unite our community. We also understand that veterinary student debt is an important issue to tackle and we want to help!

UVC Impact Pride Award

We see YOU. We appreciate YOU. And we support YOU!

That’s why we are excited to present the UVC IMPACT PRIDE AWARD! This award will recognize an exemplary veterinary student that is making a real difference for the LGBTQ+ community. The winner of the UVC IMPACT PRIDE AWARD will receive $5,000 to help them in their student journey.

*Please note, by completing the application, you are agreeing to have your video submission shared across UVC social media if you are a finalist in the competition.


Open to 3rd and 4th year students from any AVMA accredited school (graduating class of 2022 and 2023) with a GPA at or above 3.0.

How to Participate

Please submit a 3-5 minute video essay that tells your story that Empowers, Supports, and Unites the veterinary profession, your campus, or your community for the LGBTQ+ movement.

Topics May Include:
  • Groups, Clubs or initiatives that you have been a part of

  • Times in your journey where you’ve faced discrimination or challenges and how you’ve overcome

  • Situations where you have been an ally for others

  • Future plans for impacting the veterinary profession to increase inclusion

  • All of the above and more

Be creative and real in your share and put your whole heart into the project.


Email your video essay, a brief cover note, your resume, and your most recent transcript (screenshot of your cumulative GPA will service) to Laura Leinen, DVM, University Liaison, United Veterinary Care at by July 15, 2021.

Award Recipient will be announced August 1, 2021
